It's seems like it'll be a blast to jump into for a little Marvel action. This looks like a Captain America game on the SEGA Genesis.
There was even a Bucky reference in my one-level demo.
The game visually pops like a cartoon, the action is simple but satisfying, and the game packs voice acting. I moved my bright Captain America sprite across the screen, punched bad guys and hurled my shield. This is a 2D, side-scrolling brawler with some platforming and puzzle elements. These people know their way around Marvel heroes, and Captain America: Super Soldier seems to be the same story. This is the developer of Nintendo DS titles such as Iron Man 2 and Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. Environments aren't all that detailed, facial animations aren't great, and the color palette looks a bit dull. This is one of Marvel's flagship characters, and the game looks rather run of the mill. I look like some dude hopping around in a Captain America suit - if that makes any sense. After an incredibly brief look, there's nothing really making me feel like I'm Captain America. It runs OK and I love throwing a shield as much as the next guy, but it just feels like any other third-person action game. The game really hasn't progressed much from the early build I saw last year. I could also unleash Crippling Strikes (one-hit knockouts) when I filled in a focus meter, and there are a ton of collectables to find. I had to hit jump buttons in quick time-like events to keep Cap wall-running and tumbling through the air like the Prince of Persia. Outside of fighting bad guys with my fists, there were some unique things to do. If you missed that, this one's a third-person game with some shield action and puzzles. The demo I played of PS3/360 Captain America: Super Soldier was really just a hands-on version of the one I saw running back in October.
